The Tour

The "Tour" will begin with "THE LAND" (Completion date 2011): A visit to McHenry County and its natural beauty before development...wetlands, prairie, forests and waterways. An "Energy Conservation" and "Recycling" display are planned for an adjacent area in 2010.

Visit "Les Jardins-The Gardens". Learn where and how food grows. See corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, fruit and vegetable gardens. U. of I. Extension Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions during much of the fair. The vegetable and flower entries will be housed and judged on this property located in the triangle just northeast of the 4-H building.

Check out early farm tractors and equipment in a new display located just south of the gardens sponsored by the McHenry County Tractor Club.

Visit the barns. FFA and 4-H groups will provide education in each of the barns. Learn about animals, their care and what they provide for us. Saturday and Sunday, see the "Barn Champions" on display.

Finish the tour in Building F as you see the products that came from the raw materials grown and raised elsewhere. Foods and Fiber Arts abound. Attend an educational session (to be determined).

Those visitors who complete the tour and who obtain a "stamp" at every location will be eligible for entry into a drawing for Agritourism products from McHenry County.
