Open and Junior Open Shows

ANYONE can compete in Open and/or Junior Open Shows at the McHenry County Fair! These shows are in addition to the county 4-H show that takes place during the Fair.

Open Show is open to any community member wanting to exhibit livestock or non-livestock items that coordinate with the Fair Book. It is open to all ages from any locale. It is a perfect way to show your skills, talents, and collections.

Junior Open is open to anyone who is 8 years old to 18 years old. You would be competing against other youth within the same age in the same departments. You can participate in both Junior and Open as long as you meet the age criteria. In non-livestock departments you are not able to enter the same item in multiple departments.

Good Luck at the Fair!

Livestock

There are many different departments that you can compete in from large animals from farms to smaller backyard pets. Livestock departments include: Beef, Dairy, Sheep, Goats, Swine, Poultry (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigeons), Rabbits, and Horses.

Non Livestock

What is Your Hobby? Don’t be afraid to show it off! Between Open and Junior Open there are over 1,000 different Non-Livestock Classes that you can enter in. Non Livestock Departments include Grains and Veggies, Flowers, Sewing, Crafts & Needlework, Art, Photography, Foods, Antiques, and Writing.
