2012 McHenry County Fair Writing Contest

The McHenry County Fair would like to invite all residents of McHenry County nineteen (19) years of age and older to participate in the second McHenry County Fair Writing Contest held during the 2012 McHenry County Fair. Original writing in short story, essay, poetry and personal vignette is welcome. Two (2) entries per person, $1 each please.
First, second and third place ribbons for the competition will be awarded by a panel of judges. As they evaluate the submissions, judges will be considering the writer’s skill and the entry’s ability to express a thoughtful understanding of life in McHenry County.
Rules:
1. No previously published work will be considered.
2. Entries must be typed, double-spaced, on one side of white 8 ½ x 11” paper with title at the top and pagination on each sheet. No author name on the writing, please.
3. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate cover sheet containing the author’s name, address, phone numbers, title, number of pages and a signed statement that the work is original to him/her and unpublished.
4. Two non-returnable copies of each entry complete with cover sheet should be sent to: to Lynn Carlson P O Box 61 Crystal Lake IL 60039-0061 with $1 for each manuscript. One copy should be sent as an email attachment to rtxprt@comcast.net.
5. Entries are to be postmarked no later than June 24, 2012.
By entering the McHenry County Fair Writing Contest, the contestant agrees that his/her entry may be published the following year in a fair booklet and or on the McHenry County Fair website. The contestant’s inclusion in one or both publications is at the discretion of the McHenry County Fair Committee.
